There is a quote by author Anne Isabella Ritchie from the 18th century which says… “if you give a man a fish you can feed him for a day, if you teach a man to fish you can feed him for life.” That is the premise behind what this community garden is all about.
We want to take people from a place of dependence to independence. The added benefits that will come from this endeavor are…
- Helping people to provide for themselves
- Educational benefits for school children
- Community Partnerships
- Providing healthy and nutritional fresh produce.
- Enhancing the appearance of our community.
It is our desire to create a place that is available to our entire community.
In order to keep extended hours of operation, we need your help. We would love to have your knowledge and expertise to mentor our families. In addition, we need individuals willing to oversee the garden for just a few hours a week. If your heart is to serve then why not spend a few hours each week working with us to do things such as garden maintenance, plot preparation and advising where needed. There will always be a place for you.
